When DCeased was announced a lot of returning fans were a little disappointed to learn there would be no playable Zombie mode to match with Marvel Zombies. Now of course there are a number of reasons for this; they’ve been explained elsewhere if you’re interested. As for myself, I say there’s always reasons not to do something. I think a bunch of us want to do it anyway. So this is my effort, over the coming months, before the Kickstarter ships out I will have posted playable rules for every Zombie Hero. You can mix them with your Marvel Zombies, custom up some rules to run them in DCeased missions, or just laugh at how bad my ideas are. Lots of people have some cool ideas for how to make these characters. These are just mine.

My customs are designed to feel balanced next to existing designs. They are designed with simplicity in mind; simplicity is what makes Zombicide so fun. I also design my customs to match the sculpt of the model and the version and powers that are presented there. In designing custom playable Zombie Heroes I have developed the term “Militia” as a shorthand to mean Trooper, Guard or Specialist. All cards were made using Wuxyteo’s card creator, which is pretty great.

We conclude our tour of the asylum with a visit to it’s most famous doctor and inmate, Harley Quinn. Harley is focused on Hunger management, and mobility.  That’s not to say she’s a pushover in a fight, she can drop that big hammer pretty hard on anyone who underestimates her. At Blue her Group Therapy skill will likely define her role on the team, allowing friendly Zombie Heroes to throw each other chunks of their victims whenever they chow down. Note that Harley can trigger this effect herself, or benefit from it when a friend eats. Also note that it does not work when Bystanders get eaten, you need to hog the whole dude to get a Bystander ability. Also don’t overlook that Harley herself gets a big boost to her own Devour attacks when she has friends in the area. At Orange Psychotic Ex lets her increase mobility as Super Heroes are near. Finally at Red, Fantabulous Exsanguination lets her cut loose and strut her stuff, moving through enemies like they aren’t even there. She can also channel her hunger to increase when her allies eat, giving you a tremendous amount of control over the amount of dice she can be throwing at any given time. Those big hits can be placed right where you want them, because at this level, nobody can break her stride.

And that concludes the Asylum tour. Tomorrow we’ll head out into Gotham City proper and check out the Knights of the Living Dead with the Gotham City Knight box.
