Completely custom campaign and cards set around marvel zombies Vs army of darkness the evil dead crossover comics, I didn’t create these cards but I was the one who asked Jason to create them for myself and wanted them to be shared with everyone, if your looking for boards and minis for a shortcut get evil dead 2 board game with added extras, minis aren’t the best but they will do the job and the game boards work great,
So this is a completely custom campaign still in the testing phase and just a rough idea for how it will work, I do want to add more to it like zombies dazzler n enchantress with custom rules for them called deadite deception, basically both are in the campaign first mission but with a twist one isn’t a hero but you must rescue both taking the risk of the enemy in your midst, haven’t sorted them yet so we will bypass that part for now and just focus on what has been worked out,
Mission 1, that damn books at it again n whys he wearing a cape,
This mission is set in new York area, where ash finds himself in the marvel multiverse with his best buds and enemies from the evil dead series and movies,Β
The goal is to collect the necromicon from the sanctum sanctorum where dr strange has had it in his possession for years, in this mission our heroes must pick up the necromicon and exit the level, while avoiding the avengers n Dr strange as a must use special character to be placed on the board ( if I can sort a dazzler n enchantress in z form this is where you’ll also find them locked up by strange as food or foe who can tell ( the dice probably π lol )
Special rules for the necromicon are whenever a hero picks it up they must do a deadite test each turn, roll a single dice on a 1 they must drop the necromicon as no deadite can hold the book, you then lose control of this character for 2 turns where they revert to a deadite version of themselves and special zombie rules apply for target priority to include nearest zombies swarm as a third target, this deadite then has 2 actions upon turning and during each zombies turn phase rolls a dice before any actions are made and on a +4 return can return to normal, special rules apply for a turning whenever any hero turns to the dark side all zombies get 1 move action ( their closing in ) you use the unit card not spawn card for any turned units where any buffs or upgrades may be included, bystanders in the possession of turned units can be devoured but require a action and dice roll of +4 to do so, this makes a devour of a held bystander a 50/50 chance so not to be a set devour, remember the most a turned friendly like this can be turned is 2 turns, but also beware that a new third target priority is also dangerous, being stuck within a group of zs, where it’s at the start of a zombie turn phase can be deadly,Β
Mission 2, break down at the X mansionΒ
so in usual evil dead fashion they just can’t get anywhere easy and the good olde delta breaks down outside the Xavier academy,Β
Mission goals to gain entry to the mansion ( if you have the extra tiles set a full mansion would be good but if not work floor to floor as a group )
Ash being ash having heard a womans voice crying for help our hero just can’t help himself but rescue that damsel in distress hopeful she will give him some sugar, this is a dual goal mission you can break up anyway you like, in both the hanger and garage of the X mansion is parts required to get the good olde delta on the go and requires a action to pick up, but to reach the lower floors you first must get the key from somewhere in the house ( players choice on placing )Β
Upstairs is where our damsel in distress is in need of help, but theirs a twist to this story yet again in usual evil dead fashion when we come across a character we don’t know if their good or bad, so shuffle all female X-Men into a deck, pick up one to see who your using, upon reaching them roll a dice,
odds 1-3-5 their on your side and will now join you, but should it hit evens 2-4-6 they will attack you right away with a rush attack, usual rules apply for hits in rush attacks,Β Β
Added twist to the rules this hero must do a deadite test each turn where it’s 2 dice for this and your aiming for anything except two ones or snakes eyes,Β if snake eyes is rolled they turn into a deadite / zombie with no coming back so ignore the third special target priority of joining zombie swarms, I know it’s so sad π’ ash only just met them n fell in love n wanted some sugar and instead he got vinegar in the form of a deadite deception π lol, well it is evil dead π lol, same as turned deadites they only get 2 actions but you can use unit cards and can gain 1 trait card for free with 2 power ups free each activation, the player who gets to the hero may control them but only 1 hero with the exception of Howard the duck who also has special rules as I’ll explain a bit later, deadite test has been changed for this to allow you a chance to save this extra hero for the next mission it’s hard to fail but possible, this hero is ignored in spawn rules doesn’t count as a 5th 6th or even 7th or more character, but this character does follow the rules of alert status so whoever is highest rank this will be their status too minus any extra actions they only get 2 per turn as a limit,Β
Could have multiple heros for the first mission so to add some of marvels classics to help ash n the crew, but I do note if any of these characters dies it doesn’t count as game over same goes for if they turn on you with deadite deception, mission 3 is very tough from the get go and some added support could be handy for our heroes as missions progress, but remember any of these heroes each turn must do a test and if the 2 dice roll up as 1s they turn on the crew get 2 actions right away and automatically any z or deadite get 1 move action whenever any units turn, if they don’t need to move or can’t move just leave in place,
Once all objectives have been met spawn one Howard the duck with custom deadite deception rules, so as mentioned earlier I was wanting to add a z dazzler n enchantress where one or the other is gonna turn, but for now we have Howard the duck for this which in the comics
(Spoiler alert scroll on past the next paragraph if you haven’t read marvel zombies Vs army of darkness n might want to )
this duck billed lil bugger kills a version of our hero and it ain’t ducking good π lol, but for game purposes I wanted him to be a enemy or friend although more chances of enemy,
in deadite deception rules the actual unit cards are used not spawn cards they were or can be your heroes so this makes this campaign extra difficult cause your buffs get used against you and can become your downfall if your not careful, it’s like Vs mode,
Howard has very different rules on the other hand I want to make it extremely difficult to recruit him, the only way he joins you is if you roll a 6 this time, if not Howard is a zombie, if you are lucky enough to get a 6 on a dice roll Howard doesn’t have to do any deadite tests what do ever, he is your hero at your side, but I’d prefer the thorn on your side so let’s make him a tough recruit and careful this duck has teeth somehow π lol, he should also be the last chance to recruit a hero to your side for mission 3,
Once all objectives are complete and you’ve met Howard on the way out with the the car fixed they head for the cabin,Β
If you’ve got the evil dead 2 board game you’ll have the board required for this but if not maybe improvise from already owned boards,
Mission 3 where it all began n ash lost a hand,Β
In this mission your goal is to open the front door which requires a key hidden in the shed, you then have to take the necromicon into the cabin where the same rules for the necromicon apply deadite test whoever is carrying ( one dice anything but a 1 ) but at start of mission it is just next to players and you can choose who’s gonna pick it up, remember roll a 1 turn into a deadite/zombie for 2 turns n drop the book, active spawn anywhere on the map but if you really want to make it extra evil difficulty place it in the shed with the key π€ lol,
Upon entering the cabin activate a spawn at the back door area outside, windows are boarded up but 2 z or deadite hits will open them giving permanent access to the deadite horde, take the book to the centre of the cabin and to seal the cursed book and deadite horde away you just roll 3 dice, going for 2/3 with a plus 3 on the dice, can only be done once per game turn, if you fail to seal the book place and activate another spawn outside ( I know evil π lol ) you can do this twice upto a maximum of 4 spawns on this map and it’s players choice where these spawns are, no limit to trying to seal the necromicon but deadite panic tests will always apply on the start of the players turn ( extra evil mode π lol ) remember any heroes saved from previous missions have a different deadite test with 2 dice anything but 1s or snake eyes and players 1 dice anything but a 1 their good,
Upon sealing the book Apple head spawns on the front door blocking your escape and the back and front door are no longer passable for players or zs/deadites, windows are the only access for any zs or deadites outside at this point with the exception of if their card specifies they can move through walls and the players are trapped until they defeat Apple head upon defeat exit is located at the delta,
This is still a work in progress and a lot of the setting up will be upto the players choices, using heroes and bystanders to join our team I think is a great way to make it similar to the comics storyline, bystanders for the buffs and heroes for extra support, anyone playing this feels it’s too easy at points add more spawns to earlier missions and more objectives like hero saves or bystanders as mentioned a thought of dazzler n enchantress in z or deadite form would be good as a mission goal for the first mission,
I note neither myself or Jason own any images or licenses for these cards, this has been made as a custom free to play campaign to add my favourite marvel zombies comics to the roster where no sales or anything like that is requested or asked for these item, these are freely given n shared to go with the marvel zombies Vs army of darkness comics, ( not wanting to get fined or anything like that but I’m dyslexic n this is for fan made purposes only with no sales or anything like that being offered or requested is what I’m trying to say )Β I also note I’m dyslexic so apologies if the writing isn’t the best but I hope everyone understands the mechanics and enjoys this custom campaign n cards πΒ
